Co-Workers: Information
Camphill Communities have traditionally had a unique relationship to those who choose to live and work within them. The Sheiling School incorporates an intentional community of individuals who choose to commit to the task of the school – the education and support of children and young people with learning difficulties, inspired by the approaches of Rudolf Steiner - but who choose not to receive a salary related to their specific role. Instead the school community supports them in whatever ways necessary – accommodation, food, medical costs, personal needs, personal and professional development – and in return the individual contributes what they can to the task of the community. This approach is based on Rudolf Steiner’s fundamental social law –
"The well-being of a community of cooperatively working individuals is the greater the less individuals demand the proceeds of their work for themselves or, in other words, the more they make over these proceeds to their co-workers and the more their needs are met not by their own work but from that of others."
The relationship between the co-worker and the community is fundamentally different to that of an employee or volunteer. More information will be provided here soon. In the meantime please feel free to contact Rosa Balbin on 01425 482402 or e-mail: rosa.balbin@sheilingschool.co.uk.
