House Life

Our residential houses are managed in such a way as to promote a warm and welcoming family-type environment, providing a safe and secure base for the pupils. Day pupils join houses for lunch and some Birthday celebrationsactivities. The pupils’ sense of belonging is built on strong supportive relationships with adults and peers in their house community.

Life in the houses extends, complements and strengthens the education received during the day. The strong elements of rhythm and social engagement can be of particular benefit to the pupils. There is clear communication between the teachers, therapists, medical staff and the house coordinators.

In addition to the rhythms of everyday life, free time provides the pupils with opportunities to play, help with caring for their environment and exploring their local community. Food is freshly cooked in each house and pupils have the opportunity to help with this. Festivals and cultural events throughout the year confirm and strengthen the community experience for all.
