House Life

Taking out the CompostWe currently have four households in the lower school and three for the seniors.  Each house usually caters for up to 8 pupils who live together with their co-workers and houseparents to form extended "family" groups.

The emphasis on a warm family environment helps to ensure a secure base for the children and students.  There are single or double rooms available, according to need.

The life in the houses extends, complements and strengthens the
education received during the day.  The strong elements of routine and social engagement can be of particular benefit to the pupils.  There is clear communication between the teachers and the houseparents.  Most of the co-workers are engaged in both house and school life enabling clear links and consistency for the pupils across the school day.

The school is able to offer a combination of education and care, together with a rich community experience.  Day pupils also join houses for lunch and free-time activities.  Extended-day and weekly boarding places are available.
