Partnerships
The school benefits from a range of supportive partnerships with a range of organisations and groups:
The Sheiling Trust: the broader Sheiling Trust community provides our pupils with a wide range of integrated activities and experiences. Cultural performances, assemblies, open days, classroom activities and special events are shared with pupils of the Ringwood Waldorf School. Pupils access a shop, café and bakery at the Lantern Community. A highlight of school life is regular experiential visits to Sturts Farm.
Parents: we place a high value on parental involvement, hosting four annual Parents Days, including the Christmas and Summer fund raising events, where issues and developments are discussed with parents. A Parents Committee oversees annual fund raising events and ad hoc fund raising. Parental involvement is also a feature of the School Council and Advocacy Group which promotes ‘voice and choice advocacy’ at home and at school.
Kingston Maurward College: some of our senior students have attended courses at the agricultural college near Dorchester.
Bryanston School: hosts regular iintegrated sports and social activities with our pupils and their peers.
Avon Heath Country Park: offers work experience placements for some of our older students.
Association of Camphill Communities England and Wales: access, dialogue and cooperative developments with other Camphill Communities internationally and in the UK.
Crossfields Institute: provides support for developing tailored accredited courses in-house.
Turning Forward: a consultancy service which supports us in developing our pupil-centred approaches.
Aberdeen University: in partnership with Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools in Aberdeen offers the BA course in Curative Education (BACE).
Bournemouth University: we host 2nd and 3rd Year Social Work students who do 100 day practical placements at our school, enabling a mutual enhancement of knowledge and practice.
Dorset Police: we offer short placements to police recruits to enhance their community policing training.
