Training
Our Vision Regarding Training
Personal development is paramount in our work with our pupils; we therefore encourage all efforts made to enhance our capacity to self-reflect, to renew and reinvent ourselves and our practice in the ever-changing context in which we live and work. To support this personal development we offer a range of training opportunities for staff members.
1.Induction Process
Everyone joining the school receives statutory training to meet the requirements which have to be met to satisfy the local and national inspecting bodies that regulate all schools and care provisions across the country. This induction program includes, Safeguarding, Health and safety, Equality and diversity, Data protection, Duty of Care, etc.; we also aim to train our staff in “whole school approaches” which include how we view and deal with challenging behaviour, total communication, etc.
2. Common induction Standards (CIS) & Foundation course
Volunteers and untrained staff will be required to complete the CIS which is delivered in partnership with Paragon Skills for Industry. This is then followed by our own in-house Foundation Course with the aim to give our volunteers and new members of staff the possibility to explore aspects of Anthroposophical Curative Education (also known as Social Pedagogy), as well as providing opportunities to become acquainted with the Camphill ethos and values. Those attending these training sessions will gain more insight into and understanding of people with complex needs, as well as in the holistic care and educational approach we promote in our school.
3. Continuing Professional Development
The school is committed to developing the skills, competence and confidence of all staff members. Specific training needs identified through the supervision process can be addressed. Individuals also have access to NVQs, CTTLS and other courses at higher education and academic levels.
